Lychees belong to the soapberry family - Sapindaceae – and originally come from China. The fruits grow in clusters of 5 to 30 on trees that can reach 20 metres in height. During the ripening process, lychees turn from pink / red to red / brown. The hard outer peel first needs to be removed before you can eat the fruit.
Per 100 grams, lychees contain approximately 70 kcals, 0,9 grams protein and 18 grams carbohydrates. Lychees also contain calcium, iron, and vitamins B and C.
