The Brussels Sprout - Brassica oleracea convar. oleracea var. Gemmifera – is a variety of brassica of which the axillary buds are eaten. This winter vegetable is cultivated primarily in the Netherlands and is available in green and purple. Brussels Sprouts were recently crossed with kale to produce the kalette.
Per 100 grams, Brussels Sprouts contain approximately 45 kcals, 0,7 grams fat, 5,2 grams carbohydrates and 4,5 grams fibre. In addition, Brussels Sprouts contain three times as much vitamin C as oranges. They may not be everyone’s favourite, but Brussels Sprouts are very healthy and nutritious. In winter in particular, they provide your resistance with the necessary boost.
